tania ruda
Tania Ruda is a Ukrainian photographer and visual artist based in Prague, whose practice explores the relationship between the body, identity and lived experience through contemporary photography.
Working with a restrained visual language, Tania approaches the body as a space of memory, vulnerability and continuity. Her photographs consider how we inhabit our bodies, how we perceive them and how this perception shapes our place in the world.
Her background in painting, art history and curatorial studies informs her attention to colour, texture and form. These elements become a means of exploring the relationship between inner experience and external reality, giving her photographic practice a painterly sensitivity.
Rooted in long-term personal research and documentary sensitivity, her work brings together intimacy, quiet observation and conceptual clarity. Her images invite an intuitive engagement with the human form, allowing meaning to emerge through presence, atmosphere and the viewer’s own associations.
At the centre of her practice is an interest in identity as something continually shaped by memory, experience and transformation. Through photography, she examines the shifting relationship between the body and our sense of self.
